With their teacher they will talk about the difference between junk-food and genuine nourishment. <strong>Follow the suggested questions above.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Small group discussion<\/strong> Students<b> <\/b>in small groups will compare 2 snacks, one ready-made and another genuine. They will create a VENN diagram that categorizes and compares the ingredients and the process to prepare the food. Mind Maps and other Organizers \u00a0will be loaded into the section called &#8220;Instructions, Examples and Templates.&#8221;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>MAKE A VIDEO PROJECT<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Each student should create a video on FlipGrid. In the video they should introduce themselves and where they are from. They should <\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">provide a name for their favorite snack, <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">say what ingredients it is made of, <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">describe it, <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">say when they eat it, and <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">invite their audience to try it sometime.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Once the video is complete, they should upload the video into the Padlet in the section for their school and title it with their <strong>[FIRST NAME] &#8211; <\/strong>.<strong>My favorite snack<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>THE RESPONSE<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>Students should have the opportunity to review the videos and comment on the presentations. The responses can be posted on the FlipGrid projects of each student. The responses can include questions for clarification, comments about the food, or another positive response. A template for a possible student response document will be found in the section called &#8220;Instructions, Examples and Templates&#8221; of the Padlet.<\/li>\n<li>The teacher can prepare the students for making positive responses with questions that require empathetic responses.\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li><em>Do you like to try new foods?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>What is the strangest food you have ever tried?<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Does everyone love the same foods? Why not?<\/li>\n<li><em>How do you react when you try new foods and you like it? How do you think that makes the person who prepared it feel?<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>How do you react when you try new foods and you <strong>do not<\/strong> like it? Is it a courteous reaction? Is it an exaggerated reaction? <\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>If your reaction is unpleasant, how do you think that makes the person who prepared it feel?<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Who prepares the food you eat?<\/li>\n<li>Do you thank them for preparing it?<\/li>\n<li>Do you have food alergies?<\/li>\n<li>Do you know of anyone who has food alergies?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>PHASE 2 &#8211; Class-Activity (November 6 &#8211; December 1)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Creating a\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\"><b>Recipe<\/b> Students will write a recipe to make their snack. They will type it into a document and upload the recipe\u00a0<\/span><\/span>into the Padlet in the section for their school and title it with their <strong>[FIRST NAME] &#8211; Recipe<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>A template for the recipe document will be loaded into the section called &#8220;Instructions, Examples and Templates&#8221; of the Padlet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">PHASE 3<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"> &#8211;<\/span> <strong><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Class-Activity (December 4 &#8211; December 15)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><b>MAKE A RESPONSE PROJECT<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>Students will choose a recipe from another participating student from another country to prepare or buy.\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>The teacher may wish to provide the student with 3 choices.<\/li>\n<li>The teacher can survey the interests of the students to determine the best fit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><b><\/b><strong>Individual Project<\/strong> &#8211; Students will be given the choice of creating another FlipGrid Project or a Google Slides Project. \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>Group Project<\/strong> &#8211; The teacher can organize a class sharing of a variety of snacks that students can respond to on video.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>FOLLOW-UP REFLECTION (optional)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>Teachers are encouraged to provide students with a way to reflect on their learning.
