My experiences include being a <strong>National Geographic Education<\/strong> Program instructor\/mentor, a moderator for the NatGeo GeoBee, and an AP Human Geography scorer &#8211; you can see why I love the Landmark Games &#8211; so much geography!\u00a0 I taught in the elementary classroom for 14 years, and my higher ed background is with Radford University, Western Illinois University, Antioch University, and the University of Saint Francis.\u00a0 I hope you enjoy this project-based learning global experience and the adventures of collaborating with others around the world!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Application: <span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Sign-Up January 16, 2026.<\/span><\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b>How to Register with Kidlink and Sign Up for Landmark<\/b><b><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You must complete the<\/span>\u00a0<strong>Sign-UP Google form<\/strong> for your class <span style=\"color: #000000;\">to join the project: (form link in December &#8211; early signups are welcome)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kidlink.net\/index.php\/the-kidlink-project\/landmark\/timeline\/\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Project Timeline Dates<\/span><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>New:<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0I strongly suggest that all teams use a <strong>Gmail address<\/strong> for project interactions. We are doing this because there have been so many cases of <strong>blocked emails<\/strong> and <strong>error messages<\/strong> when regular school district emails have been used, and teachers have been unhappy when their Landmark questions were not being answered.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Levels of Play<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nThis challenging project is for students ages 9 and up, typically in grades 4 through middle school.\u00a0 Because the age ranges can go as high as 16 with some of our international players who speak English as a second language, the project has two levels of play. The younger players are in the <strong>Primary Game<\/strong>\u00a0and the older players usually are in the <strong>Challenge Game<\/strong>. Younger teams are welcome to be in the Challenge Game, but the level of difficulty is much greater. Working with topics related to geography, history, literacy, math, and science, students are also developing the competencies with Collaboration, Organization, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Creativity, Technology Skills, and Global Awareness.
