What’s My Number?

Objectives?
Give your students the chance to develop numerical sense  and to appreciate mathematics from a multicultural perspective. Allows students to create a “math puzzle” in which the reader needs to figure out which numbers to use based on clues given in statements or a riddle, and then answer to the math problem!

PHASE #1

  • Teachers will introduce their groups/schools or country to promote a better  knowledge among the schools in a short paragraph emailed to the project leader. The project leader will add these intros to an Introductions Google Doc which all participants can read.
  • All are invited to request to Join the FB group and Say Hello  to other participants. Use it to know more about each other teachers as well as discuss and share ideas about the project.

PHASE #2

  • Each team makes a special riddle that describes their Mystery Number.
  • Email your team riddle (and the ANSWER) to the project leader who will add it to the main Riddles Google Doc which all participants can read. There will be a deadline for all riddles to be sent in, then the project leader will post the Riddles Google Doc for the project to begin.
  • Teams may send emails to each other when you think you have solved a riddle and teams will answer if you are correct or not correct.

About  the clues:

  • No numbers. Use descriptions of the number to lead others to determine the number. There can be 5 Clue statements.
  • The clue has to mention something that anyone can guess even if they live in another country.

Be sure to solve your own challenge before you send it in!

PHASE #3

  • At the end of the project, the Project Leader will post all of the answers to all of the riddles either on Kidlink.net or in an Answers Google Doc
