Project Leader: Viktoriia Hordiienko, Ukraine — vikakalina70@gmail.com
Start/Finish dates: January 2026 – March 2026
Students 10-14 years old
Registration Deadline: January 26, 2026
Let’s celebrate World Compliment Day to help students know how to make compliments and give the chance to know how the compliments are made in different countries. It will develop their cross-cultural awareness. Teaching children to give compliments is useful, as it develops their emotional intelligence, teaches them to see beauty in others and themselves, promotes the formation of a positive attitude towards others and makes communication more pleasant. Compliments also help to raise the mood and self-esteem of both the person who says them and the person to whom they are addressed.
Teams will be divided into two categories:
10-12 years old and 13-14 years old
The number of teams – 10
The number of students in each team – 10-30
All the teams will be joined in groups of two by a random wheel at our first online meeting in Zoom.
Goals of the Project
Development of emotional intelligence:
When children learn to identify positive traits in others, they also develop the ability to see the positive in themselves, as well as the ability to express emotions and respect.
Formation of a positive attitude:
Compliments help create an atmosphere of trust and positive communication, which is an important component of healthy relationships.
Development of communication skills:
Children learn not only to give compliments, but also learn to listen and understand how others perceive them.
Increasing self-esteem:
The ability to receive and respond to compliments helps children better understand their strengths and see themselves more positively.
Positive emotions:
Saying or hearing a compliment brings joy and positive emotions, which makes communication more pleasant.
Positive perception of the world:
The ability to see the good in others helps children to perceive the world around them more positively. Compliments, especially addressed to children’s achievements, can contribute to motivation and the formation of a positive attitude towards learning
General culture of communication:
The ability to give compliments is an important part of the general culture of communication and politeness.
Increasing confidence:
When children learn to give compliments, it also helps to boost their self-confidence.
Improving writing skills:
The Project will offer exercises where children learn not only to speak, but also to write and draw compliments, which contributes to the development of writing, artistic and speaking skills.
